Northampton General Hospital ‘Theatre Nursing’ recruitment open day – this weekend!

Theatre nurses seeking new career opportunities are invited to attend a recruitment open day at Northampton General Hospital (NGH) on 8th June from 10am to 2pm. The hospital has openings for specialist theatre recovery nurses working in gynaecology and obstetrics, an exciting area to work in which has seen many new techniques and procedures developed over the past 30 years which are transforming the health of women and babies[i].

Northampton General Hospital provides acute care services for 380,000 people and has two gynaecology theatres and two obstetric theatres that are open 24 hours a day. The hospital has recently invested in new facilities, including the emergency centre and a new chemotherapy suite, offering a great work environment for its healthcare teams.

At the open day, theatre recovery nurses will get the chance to meet the nursing team, take a tour of the facilities and find out about more the roles available. Live job interviews will take place, so nurses should bring their CVs. Conditional job offers will also be awarded on the day.

The benefits of a nursing career at Northampton General Hospital include the fantastic training and development opportunities. The hospital was the first in the UK to complete the Pathway to Excellence® programme, an international programme to validate workplaces, where nurses are supported to develop and flourish. It also has a highly supportive culture and environment for nurses and has programmes in place such as Everyday Hero and the Daisy award scheme to reward and recognise its nursing staff.

Professional development is prioritised too, with leadership and development opportunities open to nurses. They can participate in courses run in partnership with The University of Northampton and also access the RCN leadership programme.

Sheran Oke, Director of Nursing Midwifery and Patient services at Northampton General Hospital says, “We welcome theatre nurses looking for a new career opportunity within gynaecology and obstetrics to come along to our open day. We look forward to meeting them and hopefully inspiring them to become part of our wonderful team.”

Northampton General Hospital is one of the key partners in the ‘Best of Both Worlds’ recruitment campaign, launched last year by Altadicta, designed to address the chronic nursing shortage across Northamptonshire.

It is the first campaign of its kind to bring together several NHS providers to address the national shortage of doctors and nurses by highlighting the many benefits of relocating to Northamptonshire, including the varied career opportunities and better quality of life. The campaign unites the University of Northampton, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Northampton General Hospital, Kettering General Hospital (KGH), St Andrew’s Healthcare and Northants GP.
