Construction Progresses on New Community Hub & GP Practice in Leicestershire

New Lubbesthorpe, Leicestershire — Work is well underway on the construction of a new local centre at New Lubbesthorpe, a thriving development in Leicestershire. The project is being spearheaded by developer Charterpoint, in collaboration with landowner The Drummond Trust.

Derby-based contractor Davlyn Construction has been appointed to bring the vision to life with a two-storey, mixed-use development known as The Brook Centre. The new complex will feature a Sainsbury’s Local store alongside four additional retail units on the ground floor, which will include a café/bistro.

Upstairs, the centre will house the Forest House Medical Centre, bringing essential healthcare services to the heart of the community. The Brook Centre marks the first local hub for New Lubbesthorpe, part of an ambitious development in Blaby District that will eventually comprise more than 4,000 new homes.

“This local centre will bring much-needed retail and café facilities to the New Lubbesthorpe community. It will also create a new practice for Forest House Medical Centre,” said Giles Nursey, Managing Director of Charterpoint. “We are delighted that work is progressing on-site and that the steel frame is up.”

In addition to the retail and healthcare facilities, construction is progressing on a new 66-bed care home located near the local centre. This project was sold to Octopus Healthcare Fund, a firm known for investing in high-quality care homes across the UK. Both developments were designed by the renowned Franklin Ellis Architects.

The completion of The Brook Centre, the care home, and the accompanying New Lubbesthorpe Primary School will finalize the development of the Tay Road feature square, creating a central community space for the expanding neighborhood.

The local centre and the new GP practice are scheduled for completion by summer 2025.

Set in 1,000 acres, with 325 acres dedicated to parks and wetlands, New Lubbesthorpe is a pioneering community located south of Leicester Forest East. Charterpoint, headquartered in Edwalton near Nottingham, specializes in developing mixed-use and sustainable housing projects, senior living accommodations, and primary care facilities.

With these new amenities, New Lubbesthorpe is steadily evolving into a well-rounded, vibrant community designed to meet the needs of its growing population.
