Couple at Paisley Lodge Care Home reunite with their son

Paisley Lodge care home in Armley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, (part of Orchard Care Homes’ portfolio of residences for the elderly), has opened its doors again to welcome the family back into the home.

Due to the easing of restrictions, Orchard’s policy regarding visiting and testing protocols has updated and this has been supported by recent feedback from relatives and external partners.

Cherry and Trevor were some of the first residents in the home to spend quality time with their son and they were thrilled to be in his company again after a year apart. Stuart commented “It was amazing to finally be able to hold their hands. I still have a big smile on my face.”

A designated visitor is now able to arrange a pre-booked appointment to visit their loved one using the same-day LFD (Lateral flow antigen) test method only. This change in policy enables these homes to increase face-to-face visits 7 days a week.

Visitors can book appointments via the home’s administrator and are asked to arrive on-site 30 minutes before their visit to take the lateral test, complete a health declaration and apply PPE. For those that wish to take an optional PCR test, they can do so by contacting the home prior to their scheduled visit and staff will facilitate the test.

Acting Home Manager, Lucy Gradwell, commented “It was emotional for all involved to be able to see residents able to connect again with their family members and it was a magical moment to see the expressions on residents faces.”

Offering specialist dementia, residential and short-term respite care, Paisley Lodge is committed to providing the best possible care to all residents and continues to go above and beyond to keep every resident safe during the pandemic.

Quality of care and invigorating best practice is at the forefront of Orchard Care Homes’ strategy and this latest CQC rating is testament to the group’s impressive record to provide the highest quality of care to its residents, with 88% of its homes now rated ‘Good’ and a 5* Food and Hygiene rating across all of Orchard Care Homes services.
