Grimsby Care Home residents design memory boxes to capture their special moments

Residents from Eaton Court Care Home in Grimsby reminisced about their younger days during a crafts session where they created their very own memory boxes.

A group of ladies joined in with the session and couldn’t wait to get creative. They started off by picking colours for their boxes and began painting, each was a different colour and very individual. Once the paint had dried, the decorating began! They used stickers, jewels and gems to embellish their boxes and added labels as the final touch.

The session led them to reminisce about some of their favourite memories and the staff members loved hearing about their lives. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed taking the time to design their own memory box. They were really impressed with the final outcomes and couldn’t wait to start using them. Theresa Smith, one of the residents at Eaton Court said, “I really enjoyed making the boxes. I just need to pick a photo for the front now and it will be perfect”.

Anne Ruttle, Care Home Manager said, “At times of hardship it’s sometimes only our memories that keep us going, having a box to keep them in makes them even more special”.

Offering nursing, residential and short-term respite care, Eaton Court is committed to providing the best possible care to all residents and continues to go above and beyond to keep every resident safe during the pandemic.
