Hales provide onsite care for service users requiring additional rehabilitation before returning home from hospital
Hales Group have recently announced that they have been working in partnership to develop onsite care at Blenkinsop Court in South Tyneside, which had previously been operating as sheltered accommodation run by South Tyneside Council.
Hales will now provide onsite care to support rehabilitation assistance for service users that require additional support upon being discharged from hospital before returning home.
Six apartments were initially modernised and temporarily converted into rehabilitation suites back in January of last year.
The Blenkinsop facility has now been developed from sheltered accommodation into a full-time extra care facility for vulnerable service users, who require additional onsite support to ensure they can live independently in their homes on an ongoing basis.
The success of the rehabilitation service was evidenced when three service users decided they would like to stay on a permanent basis and signed long term tenancies when apartments became available.
These successes have resulted in a vibrant scheme of people living, socialising together, and achieving much more than they might otherwise have done, and the reduced isolation post-pandemic has had a positive impact on both the physical and mental wellbeing of service users.
Hales Group Managing Director Nicola Mewse had this to say, “We are incredibly proud of the care team based in Blenkinsop Court who have demonstrated the skills and values necessary to ensure that people can live safely in these wonderful surroundings whilst working to regain confidence and independence for their longer-term goals.”
“They are a credit to our care services working tirelessly across the South Tyneside borough,” concludes Nicola.
