Leading care provider treats staff and clients at annual funfair

Select Lifestyles, a leading care provider based in West Bromwich, has shown appreciation towards its staff and clients by hosting its annual funfair this weekend.

More than 1,100 staff, clients, family and friends enjoyed a day out at Dartmouth Park in West Bromwich on Saturday 8 July, which offered all the traditional funfair antics along with karaoke, a live DJ and disco, craft stalls and a fairground buffet.

Hosted by Pat Collins, the longest-standing travelling fair from the Midlands, the funfair offered guests the opportunity to have a go on rides such as the waltzers, dodgems, ghost train and chairoplane.

Select Lifestyles hosts the funfair annually, as a special “thank you” for its staff and clients – treating them to a free day out to show appreciation for all their hard work and support.

Susanne Ferguson, who works for Select Lifestyles, attended the funfair with her children and commented: “Both my children can’t wait to tell everyone at school about the funfair. They said they learnt so much about people with learning disabilities and that people with learning disabilities can do anything they can do.”

Established in 2007, Select Lifestyles is an independent provider of support services for people with learning disabilities and complex needs across the West Midlands. The organisation currently provides high quality care and support to around 175 clients across one residential site, 31 supported living locations, one day centre and one respite unit.

Nick Horton, Managing Director of Select Lifestyles, said: “Our people are core to the success of Select Lifestyles and we’re so grateful for the support and value they provide. Our annual funfair is a key date in the calendar, where we dedicate the day to showing our appreciation and thanks for everything they do.

“This year, the funfair was a great success, and we had a lot of fun – despite the downpour at the end of the day! A big thank you to everyone who played a part in organising the day, especially Pat Collins for providing the funfair.”

Mark Blackstock, General Manager of Pat Collins Funfairs, added: “Pat Collins Funfairs has spent 150 years building its expertise to provide fun for all, and the Select Lifestyles annual funfair is now a part of our season. It’s a joy for us to take part in – their clients are lovely and the staff are such good fun!”
