The session will seek to raise awareness of health inequality in the learning disabilities community, highlight the important role of learning disabilities nurses and highlight roles of all health professionals in addressing inequality.
The breakfast event – titled Better health improving lives: Addressing health inequalities with and for people with learning disabilities and their families – will take place on Tuesday from 8-8.45am in Room 11A at the ACC Liverpool conference centre.
Sponsored by Nursing Times and the NHS England learning disability health improvement team, it will set out current evidence-based solution that can be immediately employed in practice to enhance and save the lives of people with learning disabilities.
This will enable people with learning disabilities to “lead healthier lives and have brighter futures”.
Examples will be drawn from community, acute, social and assessment services and will include the voice of service users.
Specially, the event will hear about innovations from nurses at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.
It will also feature Professor Bob Gates, from the University of West of London and a member of the Nursing Times editorial advisory board.
